To quote David Copperfield -
I am born.
I was born in California where I spent the first 13 years of my life for the most part. I was a military brat and grew up all over Southern California, although my family is originally from Northwest Indiana and I even lived in Japan for a year. I had two little brothers. They were ok. I was your average kid - just cooler than most. I got in trouble for playing pranks, bossing people around, and sneak-reading books by my nightlight after bed time. When I was 13 my parents told me we were moving to a place called Georgia. The only time I had really noticed Georgia was in my puzzle of the United States. I was obviously perplexed by living in such a foreign land.

| Mischievous Meg |
We arrived in Georgia and I was mortified by all of it. The pine trees, the accents, and school cafeterias that served things like fried fish and black-eyed peas. By the time I got to my senior year of high school, I was a little more used to Georgia. I still had a pipe dream of going to Notre Dame for college. (I watched Rudy one too many times - so sue me!) Due to a little thing called the HOPE scholarship, my Fightin' Irish dreams were dashed and I was Athens bound to become a
Georgia Bulldog. Over my four years there I had many adventures
and misadventures. I never knew that my time there would change my life so much. I met the person who would become
my very best friend and more. I worked in the Office of Judicial Programs which would eventually inspire my career in higher education. Most of all, I became a dyed-in-the-wool UGA fan.

And then there was graduation. I moved to two different small towns and taught high school English. My life sputtered along for two years and I felt a little confused about where I was headed. Someone special from UGA came back into my life but we were living in two different places and I didn't know how things would go. I decided to quit teaching and apply for graduate school. After a year of waiting and confusion -
bright lights! I enrolled at FSU for a two year Master's program in Higher Education Administration and moved to the sunshine state. With a lot of love and support from my best friend, family, and mentors, I will graduate in Spring 2012 with a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration. My heart kept pulling me back to Athens and so I applied to UGA again for my PhD. On January 27th, I got my official acceptance letter to the nation's #5 program in Higher Education Administration... & here we are at the future!

| Sunshine State Meg |
I'm very different than I was but still the same in a lot of ways. I have a great family and a sweet puppy named Ruby. I'm still with my Mr. Big and hope we will always be bffs.
Everyone needs one, right? My hopes and dreams including getting that PhD and continuing my work and research in the world of education. I love the University of Georgia and hope to one day be a part of continuing a tradition of excellence. On a lighter note, I love to shop, cook, and travel. I have a very adventurous side and that will never change...
Don't be afraid of death. Be afraid of an unlived life. You don't have to live forever... YOU JUST HAVE TO LIVE.
